Vancouver faces significant housing affordability challenges.
Bold ideas, action and leadership are needed to move Vancouver forward towards becoming a more affordable city.
To help generate new ideas, the Mayor’s Task Force on Housing Affordability is seeking input on what types of affordable building forms Vancouver residents would like to see in their neighbourhoods.

Background
The Housing Affordability Task Force has been set up to examine the conditions that exist in Vancouver that create unaffordable housing and the steps necessary to protect existing affordable housing. They have also been asked to identify opportunities to increase affordable housing.
The Task Force will offer a number of recommendations that will stimulate progress towards becoming a more sustainable, diverse and affordable City.
A Quick Start Report (pdf) was published on March 12, 2012. This report includes several affordability initiatives intended to have an immediate impact. The Interim Report was released in June 2012.
The Mayor’s Task Force on Housing Affordability will submit a final report to City Council in the fall that incorporates the re:THINK HOUSING ideas competition submissions and public feedback from the survey.
